This is the 5th Monday that P2F is staying on after school for their Chinese Enrichment class. The children have been learning so many Chinese idioms that you should not be surprised if these 4-character phrases roll off their tongues as they speak to you at home.
Besides acquiring bountiful knowledge in the form of Chinese idioms, they have also learned some basic table etiquette. They know that they can only start eating when everyone has received their food. They show respect by asking their elders (teacher) and their friends to eat before tucking in. Most of them are also quick to clear their lunchboxes and clean their tables after their meal and some even lend a helping hand to their slower peers.
We are already missing these makan and bonding sessions in class as the 8 lessons draw to a close.
Reciting the idioms repeatedly and rhythmically really allows them to sink in well!
